On September 26, 2022, the Monetary Policy Committee (CPM) of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) met in Yaoundé. On the occasion, the CPM raised two of the main key interest rates in order to contain galloping inflation, which could peak at 5.2% in December 2022 with an expected peak of 5.7% in 2023. The stability of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEAMC) is threatened by the upsurge in inflation. This requires urgent measures to reverse this upward trend.
