Next-generation technology was activated last Saturday in India with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's launch of the 5G connection.

5G services provide very high-speed mobile Internet to consumers and open up several new revenue streams for telecom operators in addition to efficiency opportunities for industry. “5G marks the dawn of a new era and presents a sea of opportunities,” said the Prime Minister.

India will not remain a simple consumer of technology, but will play an active role in its development and implementation, he said. Before addressing the gathering of 2,000 telecom industry executives, government officials, and stakeholders, the Prime Minister visited the booths of various companies, saw 5G use case demonstrations, and interacted with participants.
