On the crypto derivatives market, the CME group goes further by revealing that it will want to launch options trading on contracts at ; term Ether (ETH).

On Thursday, according to an announcement, the world's largest derivatives exchange plans to launch options contracts for its Ether futures contracts, “sized at 50 ether by contract, and based on the CME CF Ether-Dollar reference rate, which serves as the daily reference rate for the price of ether in US dollars.

Indeed, the CME Group's crypto options products that exist, the original Bitcoin (BTC) futures contract launched in December 2017, Bitcoin options trading products launches & eacute; s in January 2020 and the “Bitcoin and Ether micro-options” that were launched in March 2022 will welcome the new Ether options.

According to Tim McCourt, global head of equity and FX products at CME Group: “the launch of these new options contracts is based on significant growth and liquidity profound that we've seen in our existing Ether futures, which traded over 1.8 million contracts to Date.” Thus, scheduled for September 15, the next Ethereum merger, was also cited by McCourt as part of the motivation behind the launch of the new product.
