March 2025, the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) published data according to which the volume of loans set up by banks operating in Cameroon reached 1,680.8 billion FCFA during the 3rd

quarter 2024, up 20.87% year-on-year.

The dynamism of banks operating in Cameroon was mainly driven by three banks such as the Société Commerciale de Banque Cameroun (SCB), a subsidiary of the Moroccan Attijariwafa Bank, and Société Générale Cameroun (SGC), a subsidiary of the group eponymous French bank, and Banque Atlantique Cameroun (recently became AFG Bank Cameroun), a subsidiary of the Ivorian financial conglomerate Atlantic Financial Group (AFG Group). These three credit institutions accumulated 42.6% of the market shares in the third quarter of 2024, including 15% for SCB, 14.36% for SGC and 13.26% for Banque Atlantique

Banks with mainly Cameroonian capital Commercial Bank of Cameroon (11.76%) and Afriland First Bank (10.88%), then Bicec (10.86%), then Bicec (10.86%), a local subsidiary of the local subsidiary of the Moroccan banking group Banque Centrale Popolo (BCP), have market shares in excess of 10%.
