The Ivorian Constitutional Court was not due to decide on the final list of candidates before 16 September 2020. But, to everyone's surprise, the Ivorian high court delivered its verdict in the afternoon of September 14, 2020, disqualifying various candidates including Guillaume Soro while he was suspended from a judgment of the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) scheduled to fall on September 15.

And in this judgment of which Financial Afrik has a copy, delivered this Tuesday, in response to a request filed by the former Prime Minister, on March 2, the Court asks the State of Côte d'Ivoire to postpone all acts taken subsequent to the order of April 22, 2020 and to remove all obstacles preventing Guillaume Soro to enjoy his civil rights and to be elected, until the decision of the Court on the merits of the case.

Côte d'Ivoire had withdrawn from the Court of Appeal last April in the middle of the proceedings, but this decision in the opinion of the ACHPR is subject to one year's notice and cannot in all cases concern the cases under investigation.
