Covid-19 pandemic, the Central Bank of West African States (Bceao) has decided
to support the Member States in the issue of Treasury bonds, called "Covid-19 Bonds".
These bonds, according to the press release received yesterday Wednesday, "with a maturity of three months, will be issued on the market
regional financial fund and will be used to meet immediate expenses related to the fight against the
covid-19”. The Bceao, with the assistance of the Umoa-Titres Agency, will proceed with the structuring and
programming of these shows. A special three-month refinancing window is opened by the Bceao
to allow banks to refinance these bonds. Indeed, on this special window, the banks will be able to
have liquidity with the Central Bank for a maturity of three months, at a fixed rate of 2.50%.
The "Covid-19 vouchers" could be subject to refinancing on the special counter from the day of issue
and at the latest one month after their acquisition for the remaining duration of the title. By this decision, the Bank
Centrale intends to support States in mobilizing low-cost financial resources to solve
difficulties caused by the health crisis linked to Covid-19.
