The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices for October 2019 increased by 0.4% compared to
that of the previous month indicates the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (Ansd).
This development is mainly explained by the increase in the prices of "education" services
(+1.0%), "food and non-alcoholic beverages" (+0.6%) and "health" services
(+0.4%).
In annual variation, consumer prices increased by 1.3%. The average annual inflation rate
stood at +1.0%. Core inflation rose by 0.2% on a monthly basis and by 1.1% on a change
annual.
Prices of local products appreciated by 0.8%, while those of imported products fell by
0.5% in October 2019 compared to the previous month. In annual variation, they increased
1.3% and 1.1% respectively.
