The state-owned oil company of Nigeria (NNPC) has acquired other stakes in 3 private refineries in the country, according to the announcement by Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State in charge of Petroleum Resources, on Monday, January 9, 2023.

After buying a 20% stake in the Dangote refinery in 2021 for 2.7 billion USD, it's the turn of three refineries. Une initiative qui entre as part of the plan to ensure Nigeria's energy security within a few years. According to the minister, the company has acquired a 20% stake in the Azikel refinery (capacity of 12,000 b/d in Bayelsa).
