A state government official and spokesperson for national livestock farmers announced on Wednesday 25 last Wednesday that dozens of livestock farmers and bystanders were killed and several others injured by the suspected explosion of a bomb in the north-central region of Nigeria.
Indeed, according to the spokesperson for the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Tasi'u Suleman, a group of Fulani herders were moving their livestock to Nasarawa from Benue, where authorities had confiscated the animals for violating anti-grazing laws, when an explosion shook the region. According to Suleman, “at least about 54 people died on the spot. Those who were injured were innumerable.” Nasarawa governor Abdullahi Sule said for his part that a bomb attack was responsible for the deaths.
