The Beninese government has announced several measures to improve road safety in the country, following the fatal accident in Dassa-Zoumè.

During the visit of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport to the scene of the tragedy, he listed the actions that will soon be taken to ensure safety on the roads. Indeed, in order to prevent other tragedies of the size of that of Dassa-Zoumè, five strong measures have been announced by the government.

The Minister in charge of transport, Hervé Hehomey mentions: the “generalization of speed checks on all roads; professionalization of the transport profession, whose texts are being finalized; creation of the Automobile Fleet with vehicles meeting the standards to be set by the laws; vote on a new Highway Code already submitted to the Government, which will transmit it to the National Assembly as soon as the 9th legislature takes office; adoption (in progress) of politics national road safety”. He reassured that it was not an announcement effect.
