The Ivorian government intends to mitigate losses caused by insect pests in the cotton industry. To this end, the Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Côte d'Ivoire, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani announced financial support of 34.52 billion FCFA for the sector under the 2023 and 2023 campaign. The cotton industry has suffered “enormous losses” during the 2022 campaign. These damages caused “major losses” in producers' incomes ($), according to estimates by the Minister of State. For him, we are talking about 29.62 billion CFA in input credit backed up by the loss of production and 4.9 billion FCFA in producer income, of 20 CFA francs per kg, on the price of cotton seed. According to him, this support will be financed by 9.3 billion FCFA in unused grants from previous years and a budgetary effort of 25.22 billion FCFA for the year 2023 devoted by the State.
