The Council of Ministers published a press release according to which, coffee production over the period from 1 January to 30 September 2022 amounts to 92,259 tons compared to 47,391 tons in 2021. Coffee exports amounted to 62,854 tons over the same period. The government explains this performance by the “good climatic and agronomic conditions” in 2021. According to the press release, the cumulative gross income received by coffee farmers over the period from January to September 2022 is estimated at 64.82 billion CFA francs (approximately 108 million US dollars), an increase of 148.67% compared to the 2021 campaign. The purchase price per kilogram of coffee was 700 FCFA (about 1.1 dollars) in 2022, compared with 550 FCFA (about 0.9 dollars) in the previous campaign.
