In order to foster the resilience of shea communities in Burkina Faso and Togo, the Global Shea Alliance (GSA) mobilized $1.3 million. The African Climate Change Fund (ACCF) provided a grant of $996,700, while the African Development Bank (AfDB) supplemented with co-financing of $400,000 from GSA.

The funding provided by GSA, the African Development Bank and the ACCF aims to enable local communities to acquire the skills, knowledge and resources they need to achieve sustainable shea production and to access other means subsistence through climate-friendly processing practices. The project is expected to last two years and aims to reduce the climate vulnerability of 7,500 women shea collectors and their communities (more than 30,000 people) in Burkina Faso and Togo by increasing the income generated by activities such as shea farming and beekeeping and by improving management practices in community shea parks.
