Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea signed a cooperation agreement on oil and gas exploitation at the border. It was Friday, March 17, 2023 between Cameroonian President Paul Biya and his Equatorial Guinean counterpart Obiang Nguema.

The agreement signed between Cameroon and Guinea on the sidelines of the ^15th ordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State of Cemac opens up investment prospects and economic opportunities between the two countries. President Biya wants to accelerate the exploitation of Etinde gas in south-west Cameroon. Indeed, this agreement is a way to allow gas from Etinde to be transported and processed in Equatorial Guinea to the Punta Europa plant.

According to a diplomat at the Presidency of the Republic, the agreement signed on Friday will speed up the start of Cameroon's largest gas project and that of the Yoyo-Yolanda sub-regional offshore gas mega hub located in the block border between the two countries.
