The Director General of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Rémy Rioux, announced the resumption by France of its financing in Mauritania, which was suspended in 2015. This announcement is part of the broad international interest aroused by Mauritania. A country that has recently become a preferred destination for international missions from various pivotal countries around the world.

The focal point of the statements of all the guests from Mauritania were praise and appreciation for the great strides made by the country in the areas of protecting and promoting human rights, strengthening democracy, social action, monitoring security and stability, and the challenge economic development. In reality, the central role that Mauritania has recently begun to play is, over the past three years, the result of a number of guidelines and plans adopted by the country, which have focused, domestically, on getting the country out of the cycle of absurd and sterile tensions between the majority and the opposition.
