On Tuesday 18 last Tuesday, the State Bureau of Statistics (BES) released data according to which, China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 4.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2023.

The Chinese economy grew by 2.2% in the first three months of the year on a monthly basis, while analysts had expected an increase of only 2%. These figures show where the Chinese economy is at.

According to Danske Bank teams, it is doing better after suffering from lockdown measures in the country for a long time, mainly driven by the rebound in household consumption, are reacting.

Also, the rebound on European stock markets comes in the wake of Monday's recovery by Wall Street, where the Dow Jones ended up with gains of around 0.3%, as did the Nasdaq. Similarly, the trend in New York was supported by defensive stocks, starting with real estate, which increased by more than 2.2% at the end of the day in a context of

rising bond yields.
