The Economic Offences and Terrorism Court (CRIET) has delivered its verdict in a case involving agents of the petroleum products marketing company.

14 agents and collaborators of the Benin Petro company were sentenced to unconditional imprisonment with suspended sentences. The defendants are suspected of belonging to a network that collects gas orders without delivering the product to customers. The main defendant in this case was denounced by several customers with complaints against the company. The agent was therefore arrested along with 13 other persons who were complicit in the acts alleged against him and placed under arrest warrant on 30 December 2022. At the hearing on Tuesday 23 May 2023, the Court deliberated on the case. The Special Court sentenced the main defendant to 5 years in prison, including 3 years in prison and 2 million amende for “abuse of office” and Old Style”, "serif">money laundering of assets”.

4 autres personnes ont écopé de 5 ans de prison dont 2 ans fermes et un million FCFA d' fine for “complicity in abuse of functions”. The nine other people are also found guilty of “complicity in abuse of office.” They are sentenced to 2 years in prison with a suspended sentence.
