The Ivorian State and Ashok Leyland, an Indian car manufacturer specializing in the production of industrial vehicles and buses, have signed an agreement to set up a vehicle assembly unit.

The manufacturer Ashok Leyland could benefit from special support from the State to manufacture certain components on site, according to Transport Minister Amadou Koné. Indeed, production lines will be operational in 12 months and 1,700 vehicles of 5 different models will be released annually. For Amadou Koné, “Côte d'Ivoire has all the necessary elements for tire production, namely oil, water, the raw material (rubber), technology, and the support of the Ministry of Industry, which has prepared a white paper on the automotive industry. We think it's a bet we can succeed.”
