With the aim of developing local cashew processing, Prime Minister Patrick Achi launched the Korhogo agro-industrial zone ready to receive investors. A guided visit was made to the site on Thursday, June 15, 2023, in Korhogo, led by André Ekponon, Prefect of the Region, Prefect of the Korhogo Department, Dr. Adama Coulibaly, Director General of the Cotton and Cashew Council, also coordinator of the Project to Promote the Competitive Cashew Value Chain, (Ppca) and Karim Berthe, Director of Transformation and Deputy Coordinator of Ppca

Built on an area of 28.7 ha, this zone houses seven industrial lots, 3 large warehouses with a surface area of 2500 m3 and a capacity of 3000 to 4000 tons, a drying area, a cashew shell recovery center, a truck weighing station, a wastewater treatment plant, parking areas for trucks and a living space as well as green spaces. Dedicated to the processing of cashew nuts in Korhogo, this zone will create the conditions for the establishment of several nut and cashew factories, and also create permanent jobs for young people and women by offering them the opportunity to take good care of themselves and to live decently.

This focus on transformation is a major challenge for which the Cotton and Cashew Council is multiplying investments and other support to actors in the value chain, in order to best support development initiatives in the sector but also to improve producers' incomes.
