During the ordinary session of the Council of Ministers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), for the year 2023, several projects were examined and adopted by the members.

The second ordinary session of the Council of Ministers was held, on Friday 16 June 2023, at the premises of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) in Niamey. This meeting marks the resumption of rotating meetings of UEMOA bodies in the countries of the Union. The agenda for this session covered several items. Under the UEMOA Commission, the Council examined three draft regulations relating to the UEMOA Community Mining Code, the dematerialization of procedures, customs formalities and foreign trade within UEMOA, as well as the framework for the coordination and sharing of radio frequencies

The members of the Council of Ministers also adopted, two draft directives on consumer protection in the West African Economic and Monetary Union and the harmonization of the regulatory framework for the certification of terminal equipment and radio equipment in the UEMOA area. Finally, the participants also examined the draft second collective in the Union budget for the year 2023 and, under the Union Court of Auditors, the reports for the 2019 and 2020 financial years.

Under the UMOA Financial Markets Authority, the members of the Council have applied articles 3 and 4 of the Annex to the Agreement on the composition, organization and functioning of the UMOA Regional Council for Public Savings and Financial Markets, as well as examined and approved the annual accounts of the UMOA Financial Markets Authority ended on 31 December 2022
