A cremation ceremony took place on Thursday, September 7, 2023 in Abengourou. This was the General Directorate of Customs of Indénié-Djuablin, which incinerated 17.2 tons of seized contraband

goods.

These goods, with an estimated value of 300 million CFA francs, consist mainly of substandard and falsified medicines (MQIF), drugs, particularly cannabis, and adulterated beverages. They were seized by the various customs services of Abengourou over the period from January 1 to August 31, 2023. According to the Regional Customs Director, Colonel Ousmane Sanogo, who insists on an absolute ban on the export of these products, “under no pretext and in any form, these goods must not enter Ivorian territory

”.

According to Ousmane Sanogo, the public destruction of goods is a message to reassure the population that services are being provided and to show everyone who engages in this type of activity that the prohibited products seized are indeed destroyed.
