Today, shops, businesses and stands are created and managed by women in Togo. According to a specialist of business management based in Lomé, Togolese women are no longer confined to trading in the Assigamé large market and are more and more visible in all areas where wealth is created and distributed. Thus, he said, “we can feel this wind of change. [...] Women are no longer just salespeople, they are increasingly becoming owners, shareholders, and partners in various types of businesses.”

For the latter, this growing visibility in the entrepreneurial landscape of Lomé is the result of several years of reforms targeted by the Togolese authorities and aimed at encouraging female entrepreneurship.
