Un groupe de 13 Nigerian cybercriminals have been arrested and two other thieves have also been taken into custody, including an individual wanted by the Togolese National Police.

The 13 Nigerian cybercriminals arrested on September 30 specialize in online scams, creating fake social media profiles to establish fraudulent romantic relationships. On the other hand, an incident occurred on 19 August in Lomé, where suspects stole valuables from parked vehicles, but a swift investigation led to the arrest of L. Kossi and A. Koumengou, who specialized in stealing textiles from shops.

Security authorities have indicated that these Nigerian cybercriminals are experts in the art of extorting substantial amounts of money from their victims, commonly known as “love chat scams”.
