The Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Benin, IchijoMotonobu held the signing ceremony of the Exchange of Notes between Japan and Benin on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. This signature allowed Benin to obtain significant support from the Japanese government in countering terrorism.

Japan donated rolling stock and emergency equipment at a cost of approximately 1,650,000,000 FCFA. This is a non-refundable donation that is part of the objective of supporting the Government of Benin to further strengthen the operational capacities of the Republican Police units and the services in charge of civil protection, for the fight against terrorism in Benin. This signing of the Exchange of Notes confirms Japan's agreement to finance the “Economic and Social Development Program” in favor of the Republic of Benin, through the supply of rolling stock and emergency assistance. According to the head of affairs of Japan, the country's Government, which is very concerned about improving the security system, is once again showing its friendship and solidarity with the Beninese people through this signature
