The West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) published on Wednesday a document entitled “Note on regional economic conditions in UEMOA, 2nd quarter 2023” according to which industrial production fell by 6.0% in the 2nd quarter of 2023 in Côte d'Ivoire compared to the previous quarter.

The document published by UEMOA mentions that “in Côte d'Ivoire, industrial production fell by 6.0% in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. This drop in industrial production over the quarter is in line with the decline noted, mainly in the extractive industry (-0.1%) in hydrocarbons and -12.3% in other extractive industries. The manufacture of food products (-9.2%), refining (-11.0%) and the manufacture of chemical products (-10.4%)”. According to the same source, (industrial) activity increased by 3.9% year-on-year, driven by the construction of motor vehicles (+18.1%), the manufacture of chemical products (+9.8%), and energy production and distribution (+9.5%)
