The first integrated textile unit, which is the largest in the world, is launching its activities in the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone this week. This unit will have a capacity to process 20,000 tons of cotton fibers produced in Benin and will employ 5,000 young people according to estimates by the Director General of the Société d'Investigation et de Promotion de l'Industrie (SIPI-BENIN), Létondji Beheton, Director General of the Société d'Investigation et de Promotion de l'Industrie (SIPI-BENIN). According to him, “cotton fibers will be transformed into towels, sheets and other fabrics that will be used in other garment manufacturing units (polo shirts, T-shirts, shirts), which will be sold on European, American, Asian and African markets.
