With the intention of helping to catalyze the investments of citizens of eight African countries living abroad, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has launched a $3.9 million (2 billion 351 million 757 thousand 300 CFA francs) project.

La BAD a annoncé avoir signé un protocole d' accord avec la Commission de l' Union African Republic (AU) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for the implementation of a project. The Gambia, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Somalia, South Sudan, Togo and Zimbabwe will benefit from both the bank's initiative. This project aims to “strengthen the investment, human capital and philanthropic commitment of the diaspora in eight African countries

”.

According to Abdul Kamara, the Deputy Director General for the East Africa Region of the AfDB, “will help beneficiary countries identify the best methods to effectively mobilize human and financial capital from the diaspora, or to support socio-economic development by relaunching the sector private national, or to recover from a political or humanitarian crisis by drawing on the expertise and networks of diaspora groups”.
