The hydroelectric dam that will be built on the Zambezi River could supply more than 3 million homes in Mozambique and neighboring countries. According to the press release of the Mozambican government, it will be installed on the Zambezi River in the northern province of Tete and should produce 1,500 megawatts of electricity during the first stage. According to the Minister of Energy, Carlos Zacarias, this is “the first concrete measure taken by Mozambique to exploit the immense hydroelectric potential of the Zambezi River

“The new dam will provide low-cost electricity and help us position ourselves as a regional exporter of clean, renewable energy” the minister learned.
