Le Président de la république togolaise Faure Gnassingbé officially launched the 3rd edition of the African Industry Summit (AFIS 2023) in Lomé. He addressed the issue of inflation in addition to several other topics.

The Togolese president then welcomed the fall in inflation and the “prices of basic products, especially food and energy”. For the authority, “this drop in inflation is being observed all over the world. The latest IMF projections suggest that price increases will reach 6.8% in 2023, before returning to 5.2% in 2024, a marked improvement compared to the 8.7% rate recorded last year.” Faure Gnassingbé also indicated that the drop in inflation is particularly pronounced in our UEMOA, West African Economic and Monetary Union area. According to him, the inflation rate fell to 2.7% in September 2023, a performance to be welcomed when compared to the peak of 8.8% recorded in August 2022 and the rate of 6.0% in

January 2023.”
