The director of horticulture, Macoumba Diouf, said that Senegalese fruit and vegetable production increased from 905,000 tons in 2012 to 1.6 million tons in 2023. The country thus recorded an increase of nearly 700 tonnes.

Senegal's exports of fruits and vegetables increased from 56,000 to 120,000 tons from 2012 to 2023. At a meeting of the Société d'Exploitation du Marché d'Interesse National et de la Gare des Grande Porters (SEMIG) with horticulturists, traders and transporters last Thursday in Diamniadio, Macoumba Diouf said that fruit and vegetable production in Senegal has increased from 905,000 tons in 2012 to 1.6 million tons now. tons now.

According to the public authorities, Senegalese horticulture players (traders, transporters and horticulturists) benefit from new infrastructures, the national interest market and the large aircraft station, from an investment of 55 billion CFA francs.
