The American mining start-up KoBold Metals has announced that it has discovered a vast copper deposit in Zambia. This will allow the United States to reduce its dependence on China.

Startup president Josh Goldman said that Mingomba will be an “extraordinary” mine, both because of the exceptional concentration of red metal in the ore and because of the magnitude of potential reserves. For the latter, “it will be one of the largest underground mines with one of the highest grades”.
