The CEO of the Montage Gold Group announced on Thursday, May 02, 2024 that a large-scale gold deposit has just been discovered in the departments of Kani and Dianra, localities located in the north of the country.

Martino De Ciccio said that the gold mine called “Project Koné” will be the largest mine in the country. The resources identified, according to him, are 5 million ounces, or 155 tons of gold, for an initial life of 16 years, with the possibility of expanding it thanks to exploration potential. According to the CEO of the Montage Gold Group, the annual capacity of the project plant will be 11 million tons of ore per year. This is the third largest in West Africa, behind the two mines located in Burkina Faso and Guinea, which each have a capacity of 12 million tons.
