These funds will enable the country to strengthen significant progress in its digital transformation journey and improve the country's governance through new technologies. This initiative is part of an ECOWAS strategy aimed at strengthening the digital capacities of all its member states. It comes as the Gambia is increasing its efforts to accelerate its digital transformation and strengthen its telecommunications infrastructure in order to provide its population with new innovative services

The ECOWAS grant should support the implementation of this strategy, which includes the digitization of administrative services, the strengthening of citizens' digital skills, as well as the creation of a standardized digital identification system, among others.
