The 2020 rainy season is looking bad for Malian agriculture. Cotton farmers decide not to put the cotton underground. The government of Mali decides to buy the cotton at 200 CFA francs per cotton. The coronavirus crisis was thought to be the cause of this upheaval, but countries think it's a deception.

In all this business, the cotton growers would speak the same language from Sikasso to Koutiala. Activities are slow at the start of the rainy season and farmers are moving towards crops of millet, sorghum, etc. It must be said that the peasants are the people who suffer the most in Mali. They are the producers and also the poor. This system must change in Mali. In many West African countries, this system exists. When we imagine that the peasants go into debt to have the fertilizers, when the cotton is sold, the money takes time, even two to three months often.

The fact that the peasants speak the same language is the beginning of a change of attitude on the part of the peasants. Everyone works for their interests, so interests must be defended and preserved. The peasants must not content themselves with cultivating and waiting for the money, they must educate themselves, seek to understand, avoid political shenanigans. The country boasts of its agricultural power on the international scene but the population suffers because it does not benefit from the interests of this agricultural power.

In all this situation, we can say that the officials in charge of agricultural issues seem not to be correct with the peasants who suffer during a whole rainy season to reap the regret. The other catch is that corn fertilizer cannot be obtained without cotton fertilizer, the two would be linked. It is time for the peasants to come out of the illusion.
