Le ministre du Pétrole, Mahaman Moustapha Barké Bako announced that Niger plans to build a new refinery and a petrochemical complex with a minimum capacity of 100,000 barrels/day in Dosso, in ; western part of the country after setting up the technical committee responsible for monitoring this project on Friday.

Niger could multiply its current production by five, to go from 20,000 bj to 100,000 bj, after the commissioning of phase II of the Agadem block (north-east) and of a new oil pipeline. This would allow it to truly enter a new phase as an oil-producing and exporting country, according to the competent Nigerien authorities.
