Sukuk shows have grown remarkably around the world, from $53 billion in 2010 to over $182 billion in 2022. Islamic bonds began to capture the attention of African states nearly a decade ago. In total, nine countries on the continent have already issued 773 sukuks: Gambia, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Togo, Togo, Togo, Togo, Mali and Morocco. The Gambia stands out with the largest number of issues, in this case 730 transactions involving modest amounts.
