The medium-term debt management strategy (SDMT) has become essential for the states of Old Style”, "serif">UEMOA , to balance costs and risks in order to meet rising interest rates and the growing financing needs of states. According to macroeconomist Arouna Sow, the strategy is used to structure government debt portfolios by balancing costs and risks over three to five years. It also aims to stimulate the development of an efficient public securities market.
