La first edition of Young Lawyer Week was held from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 July 2024 in Conakry. It is organized by the Association of Young Lawyers of Guinea (AJAG)

For 3 days, legal professionals discussed topics as relevant as “judicial corruption, office management, mining law”. At the end of this meeting, recommendations and possible solutions were considered by the participants to stem the scourge of corruption. According to the president of AJAG, Master Elhadj Madiou Barry, several diagnoses and possible solutions related to corruption were discussed by the participants. According to him, one of the problems of corruption, identified during this meeting, is linked to impunity.

The president of AJAG also indicated that “there was a considerable contribution from both sides. Magistrates, clerks, bailiffs, notaries, notaries, policemen, lawyers, all actors of justice have intervened around this subject.” In the words of Elhadj Madiou Barry, “one of the problems of corruption is impunity. If the perpetrators of these acts are brought before the courts, the corresponding sentences are imposed on them, there is no doubt that we could get out of it
