West Texas Intermediate oil futures rose 2 cents, or 0.03%, to $76.86. Brent oil futures lost 7 cents, or 0.09%, to $79.59 per barrel at 0021 GMT. Brent finished last week up more than 3.5%, while WTI gained more than 4%, thanks to favorable economic data and increased hopes of reducing interest rates in the United States. Consumer prices in China rose faster than expected in July, and weekly unemployment claims in the United States fell more than expected last week.
