The development of the tourism sector is still embryonic in Gabon and its contribution to the national economy is still marginal. For this reason, the country plans to devote 21.6 billion CFA francs by 2026 to the development of this sector, according to National Development Plan for Transition (PNDT

).

Gabon's budget for the tourism sector aims to make tourism a vehicle for the fight against poverty and economic development in rural regions of the country. Sustainable tourism will be the priority with the aim of developing a concrete national tourism offer and attracting more than 600,000 arrivals each year by 2029. The Gabonese authorities hope to develop the tourism sector in order to improve its contribution to the national economy. It should be noted that the country has significant potential with 80% of tropical rainforests among the best preserved in the world, home to a rich biodiversity

.

In addition, 8 projects should be funded in this direction. These include the development of infrastructure and the upgrading of tourist facilities, the promotion of religious tourism, the enhancement of Almamy Samory Touré Island, the construction of the Cap Océan hotel, the creation of an animal park, as well as the establishment of an animal park, as well as the establishment of a project to identify areas of tourist interest
