A regional workshop has been ongoing since last Tuesday in Abidjan on the Nigeria-Morocco African gas pipeline project crossing a dozen West African countries, including Côte d'Ivoire.

L'atelier qui est à son terme aujourd'hui, jeudi 29 août 2024 a regroupé des experts du secteur des hydrocarbures de la Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) . Participants reviewed and validated regulatory and institutional documents for the African gas pipeline project. These documents, in particular the intergovernmental agreement and the host country agreement, are essential to ensure transparent and effective governance and to facilitate regional integration as part of this strategic project. The African gas pipeline project must cross Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania over more than 5,600 kilometers before reaching Morocco and serving European markets through the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline. The project, which will lead to major transformations for the economies of the countries concerned, represents a significant advance in Morocco's energy transition and should make it possible to boost the West African region while providing it with stable

energy.
