The Ghana Day Business Forum aims to forge new alliances and strengthen trade and investment opportunities between Ghana and Mauritius. According to EDB CEO Ken Poonoosamy, the aim of the business forum is to consolidate existing ties between Ghana and Mauritius, in addition to exploring new investment opportunities. According to him, real growth in gross domestic product for the continent is expected to average 3.8% and 4.2% in 2024 and 2025 respectively, which is higher than the global average. The continent is therefore expected to remain the second fastest growing region after Asia. Poonoosamy also said that Mauritius, a founding member of the African Union, the Southern African Development Community and the Common Market for East and Southern Africa, is also a leading economic partner among sub-Saharan African countries. Trade with Africa grew to a total of USD 1.3 billion in imports and exports for 2023, according to the latter.
