It was on Wednesday 11 September 2024 in Cotonou that the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) launched, Wednesday 11 September 2024, the activities of its Regional Fund for Stabilization and Development (FRSD)

.

The Regional Stabilization and Development Fund is a project supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Its vision is to ensure the promotion of socio-economic stabilization and the resilience of vulnerable communities in the region. This is an initiative launched in 2019 by ECOWAS. Its first phase was implemented in The Gambia (2019-2024). The second phase, which extends from 2024 to 2027, launched in Benin, will cover Togo and Guinea Bissau. It mainly covers three areas of intervention such as employment (vocational training, basic infrastructures, promotion of entrepreneurship, etc.), the environment (reforestation, irrigation, renewable energies, etc.) and the services necessary for social cohesion (sport, media for peace, conflict resolution mechanisms, etc.

).

The implementation of the said project in Benin aims to reach around 24,000 beneficiaries. It is implemented in partnership with the Government of Benin, the German Cooperation and national partners such as Care International style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, "serif">

and VSF-B.
