With the opening of the Senegalese market to carrot imports, a Senegalese agricultural production and processing company based in Ndoucoumane, in the Thiès region, claims to have recorded losses estimated at 250 million CFA francs.

A2FP is a company specialized in the production of potatoes, onions, chilies and carrots. This Senegalese agricultural production and processing company is also specialized in import-export. A2FP, eager to adapt to this new situation and to limit its losses, decided, at first, to stop harvesting its remaining 15 hectares, whose projected production is 600 tons. The company has contacted the competent authorities to find solutions with them

.

In addition, Serigne Issa Diop, director of the company's information system, believes that “the opening of the market for carrot imports has led to an immense loss, which today has forced the production manager to stop harvesting on 15 hectares”. He said that initially 25 hectares were to be harvested, but in the end only 10 were harvested before the local market was opened to carrot imports. Likewise, Serigne Issa Diop considers that the decision to reopen the Senegalese market to carrot imports has serious consequences for local producers, noting that a kilogram of local carrot costs 600 francs, compared to 3000 francs

for imported carrots.
