The Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded, last September, an increase of 0.8% compared to the same month in 2023, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

Compared to September 2023, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.6% for food products and 1.0% for non-food products, according to the High Commission for Planning. Variations in non-food products range from a drop of 2.4% for “transport” to an increase of 3.6% for “housing, water, electricity, electricity, gas and other fuels

In September 2024, the CPI remained stable compared to August, due to a 0.1% drop in the food index, offset by a 0.1% increase in the non-food index. The decreases in food prices mainly concerned “fish and seafood” (-6.1%), “fruits” (-2.2%), and “mineral waters, soft drinks, juices” (-0.3%). On the other hand, the prices of “vegetables” increased by 2.7%, followed by “meats” and “coffee, tea and cocoa” (+0.4%), as well as “oils and fats” (+0.3%). As for non-food products, the most marked decrease was that of “fuels” (-3.2%

Finally, core inflation, which excludes products with volatile prices and those with regulated prices, grew by 0.3% over one month and by 2.4% over one year, reflecting persistent inflationary pressures in the economy.

Regionally, increases in the CPI were recorded in Guelmim (+0.6%), Dakhla (+0.5%), Settat (+0.4%), and in several cities such as Kenitra, Rabat, Laayoune, Safi, Beni-Mellal and Errachidia (+0.3%), while Casablanca saw a slight increase (+0.2%). Conversely, decreases were observed in Al-Hoceima (-2.7%), Agadir (-0.7%), Tetouan and Tangier (-0.2%), as well as in Fez and Oujda (-0.1%
