On the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, held in Washington on October 23 and 24, 2024, the Minister of State for Economy and Finance, Romuald WADAGNI, signed four financing agreements worth a total of 74.5 billion CFA francs.

The agreements, concluded with the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), the West African Development Bank (BOAD) and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (FKDEA), concern three main sectors: agriculture, vocational training and access to drinking water.

The OPEC Fund contributed 26 million US dollars, or about 15.6 billion CFA francs, to finance the extension of the Market Garden Development Support Project (PADMAR). This project aims to expand to 27 additional municipalities, including Karimama, Malanville and Parakou, with the aim of supporting the incomes of market gardeners and strengthening food and

With funding of 30 billion FCFA from BOAD, three vocational technical high schools will be built, renovated and equipped in the cities of Bohicon, Natitingou and Lokossa. The aim is to develop technical training infrastructures to meet the needs for skilled workers in various economic sectors.

The FKDEA, with a contribution of 8.9 billion FCFA, and the BOAD, with 20 billion FCFA, will finance projects to strengthen the supply of drinking water in the cities of Bassila, Allada, Lokossa and Athiémé. This program aims to improve access to water in these localities, meeting the growing needs of the population.
