The forecast for date production in Morocco for the 2024-2025 season is 103,000 tons compared to 115,000 tons in 2023-2024. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the opening of the 13th edition of the International Date Show in Morocco (SIDATTES 2024), which is being held from October 30 to November 3 in

Erfoud.

In recent years, the date industry in Morocco has seen a significant drop in production, from 143,000 tons in 2020 to 108,000 tons in 2023. Estimates for the current agricultural season call for a harvest of 103,000 tonnes, a decrease of 10%

.

These figures were announced by Ahmed Bouari, Minister of Agriculture, Marine Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, who indicates that for the next season, the country's production will reach 103,000 tons.

“This production is considered reasonable in view of the climatic context and the fires that have affected some traditional palm groves, especially in the oases of Tinghir, Zagora and Tata, as well as the lack of water resources”, said the minister, while specifying that “the latest rainfall and the flow of wadis in the region” bode well for a good agricultural season as they will contribute to the revitalization of the oases
