Local farmers, officials from the regulatory body Cocobod and buyers have announced that Ghana's cocoa production is expected to rebound in the 2024/25 season, thanks to favourable weather conditions.

In June, Ghana saw its cocoa production fall below 55% of its average seasonal production, marking a low of over two decades. The country now expects production to rise to 650,000 tons for the 2024/25 season, although an official at the International Cocoa Organization said he saw it around 500,000 tons. More than 20 cocoa farmers, Cocobod officials, and local buyers reported that farms had healthier pods than the previous season due to improved rainfall and sunshine, as well as the timely use of fertilizers and pesticides. According to the secretary of a group of farmers in the district of Asamankese, in south-east Ghana, Ocran Christopher, they have harvested 500 bags since the opening of this season in September on their farm of more than 72 hectares, compared to around 820 bags for the whole of the

2023/24 season.
