A press release indicates that the unemployment rate in the Oecd zone remained stable at 4.9% in October 2024. This rate has been at 5.0% or just below since March 2022.

Unemployment rates remained unchanged in October in 19 OECD countries. The unemployment rate has been stable in around two-thirds of the 17 OECD countries that are members of the eurozone and has continued to fall in Italy and Lithuania. The OECD unemployment rates for women and men remained broadly stable in October 2024, at 5.1% and 4.8%, respectively. The unemployment rate for women was higher than for men in the Oecd zone, the European Union and the eurozone, but the unemployment rate was higher for men in the G7 zone and in just over half of the 38 countries in the OECD in October 2024 (or during the last available period). As a result, the unemployment rate remained stable for young workers (aged 15 to 24) as well as for workers aged 25 and over.

Moreover, rates fell in 7 countries and increased in 5 others.
