.During an umpteenth working session on December 27, the interim CEO of PosteBank Gabonaise Martin Parfait Pecké announced that he had disbursed 10 billion CFA francs intended to pay the claims of small savers. According to the latter, this sum could be paid to them in the coming days: “the payment order for the benefit of savers has already been established, and the Treasury is in the process of carrying out the final checks in order to invite savers to withdraw their due
.”This amount in fact represents the first installment (24.3%) of the 41.1 billion CFA francs that this subsidiary of the company La Poste S.A Gabon, currently bankrupt, must pay to companies over a period of 3 years. Indeed, in January 2024, the Transitional Government announced to offer an envelope of 30 billion CFA francs dedicated to the reimbursement of more than 60,000 Postebank savers. This financing, according to the Ministry of Communication, should then be taken from the budget for the year over a period 2024-2026: i.e. 10 billion CFA
francs per year.“The small detail that remains to be resolved, mainly concerns savers who have not been registered up to date, for whom PosteBank will open an ATM in the coming days, count all these so that after this census, savers, as much as they are in the Gabonese Republic, receive the amount that will be intended for everyone, the amounts due to them, according to the distribution that will be made,” said the president of the Collective of Savers of PosteBank SA,
